After a good weekend previously for both Simon and I at Croft circuit we were very optimistic for this weekend. Testing went well for the both of us and I was confident even though I had never driven Castle Combe before.
In qualifying I managed to secure two 2nd places on the grid right behind the Clio. I was sure when it came to the race my experience in SAXMAX would hopefully bring me to a race win.
In race one after the first lap it was Clio first, me second. We had a close race for a few laps until the Clio started to suffer from a fuel problem which allowed me to get past and from there on I managed to hold onto the lead and bring the team another win.
For race two it was the same to start with and sadly for him the Clio was suffering from problems from the very start so I took and early lead and managed to extend it to eight seconds before we had to do our mandatory pit-stop where I got stuck behind the Mini going down pit-road which lost me ten seconds in the pits and also lost me the lead by a long way. But I guess that’s racing. And unfortunately I had to settle for second place in this race.
And now it was a short wait until my favourite track of the year, Donnington Park in two weeks time where I was going to do well.
